Web-based high jump development framework
Written by: Tobias
Highjumptree - The high jump development tree is a web-based training model created to support long-term athlete development from U14 to senior level. It organizes high jump–relevant exercises based on their primary focus—such as coordination, conditioning, and specificity—and builds progressively from fundamental jumping skills to more advanced, discipline-specific movements. Supported by video examples, it provides clear guidance for each exercise and its application. By combining general and specialized training elements, it serves as a practical tool for developing the physical and technical foundations required for high jump performance.

Landing Page
A short overview and description, along with guidance on how to use the tool effectively. For each age group, general recommendations are provided on a separate page.
Interactive Tree SVG
The Interactive tree graphic organizes each exercise—visualized as a leaf to matching branches — by mapping it along two axes: coordinative to conditional and general to specific, helping to clearly define its role within the training model.
Description Page
Most text and video based informations are shown in a seperate area next to the tree, which should be visible all time.
Example Leaf/Exercise
Each leaf contains multiple exercise variations, with detailed descriptions, observation points, and instructions. Variations not suited for the selected age group remain accessible but are greyed out.
Detailed Instructions
Detailed descriptions, observation points, and verbal instructions are provided for each age group, if applicable.
Navigation with Keyboard Shortcuts
For easier navigation, keyboard controls are available for scrolling between variations, playback control, and vertical navigation. This allows for quick switching between variations and freezing video frames for comparison.
Example Branch Overview
Since leaves grow from branches, the branches are also clickable, providing a quick overview of available exercises. The roots and the stem of the tree also contain exercises and general guidance.
